Jack Parnell is, without doubt, one of the most popular personalities in the music business. He first became famous as a drummer when Ted Heath started his Band in 1945 and left after several years to form his own Swing Band with which he toured very successfully packing music and dance halls throughout the country.
In the sixties Jack accepted an offer to become resident Music Director for ATV where he was required to work at Elstree Studios instead of touring. He formed one of the greatest television orchestras in the world, using, basically, his own players and other star instrumentalists. Apart from all the ATV shows, which included the famous 'Muppets' and 'Sunday Night at the London Palladium', Jack also acted as m.d. for such television specials as 'The Liberace Show', Tony Bennett, Lena Horne and Barbra Streisand plus a host of famous stars who were filming their television specials in Great Britain. These shows were transmitted to, virtually, every country throughout the world and consequently Jack became a popular name in the United States. One of his greatest honours is the "Emmy" award he won where the presentation from Los Angeles was acclaimed by a worldwide television audience of over one hundred million people.
In recent years, Jack Parnell has been kept busy by composing music for TV and playing drums with The Best of British Jazz Group and also the famous Ted Heath Orchestra whenever they reunite for special occasions.
